To develop and source a solution to produce a one piece backlit billboard that would meet the demands of a continual, scrolling poster box without compromising the aesthetic qualities.

The solution required was to be environmentally friendly and would drastically reduce and remove the PVC properties used within the manufacturing process. As this was a high volume product, a special emphasis on cost to produce would be critical to ensure the product remained competitively priced.

Through our vast network of business partners we were able to identify a Swiss paper manufacturer who had the capability to produce in large format widths. The supplier had a product which they were able to modify and incorporate wet strength properties to withstand a revolving unit. Cestrian employed two HP TJ8600 printers (UV and solvent) in order to produce a high quality product at volume to the agreed budget. Further investment was made to include a streamlined and efficient semi-automated finishing line.

Orders are now received in varying in quantities, versions and designs on a weekly basis. A dedicated account team has been created to specifically manage the account, providing direct support to both the client and production. The team utilises the Tharstern management information system which records every process of production and provides up-to. Over 600 are now produced each month which are collated and distributed nationwide.

The graphics were printed on the HP TJ8600 with a maximum size of 1.6 metres x 3.6 metres and a resolution of up to 600dpi capable of printing 480sqm per hour.
