ALDI SUPERMARKETS

WINDOW GRAPHICS

ALDI, short for “Albrecht Discount”, is a discount supermarket chain based in Germany. It’s earliest roots trace back to 1913, when the Albrecht’s opened a small store in a suburb of Essen.

Aldi today, specialises in staple items such as food, beverages and other inexpensive household goods. The Aldi group operates about 8,133 individual stores worldwide. In the UK, Aldi opened its 500th store in October 2013 and now has a market share of 3.6%.

THE BRIEF

The brief was to produce and install a high impact window graphic solution. The graphics were to act as dual purpose; to provide promotional branding from the exterior and to screen the back office areas from being visible from outside of the store.

CONSIDERATIONS

The substrate proposed was to be durable and enhance the bright colours that are incorporated into Aldi’s strong branding and photography. The window graphics were to be produced on a removable material and installed during store closing hours.

SOLUTION

Printing tests were conducted on a range of self-adhesive vinyl products in order to achieve the intense depth of colour required by the client. The final material was also selected to achieve fast and easy installation, as well easy removal. The project included a rolling schedule for 24 stores, each featuring renewed window graphics every 3 months. Scroll through the photos on the right to see Aldi’s latest campaign.

The on-going window graphic campaign provides the following benefits:

- Highly visible window graphics that enriches the Aldi brand colours

- Each and every campaign delivered and installed on time and within budget.

- Produced on a substrate that is easy to install, de-install and re-install

- Flexible installation completed outside of store opening times for minimal disruption.
