PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

    • Day-to-day updating and running of the Tharstern Production Schedule in accordance with the wishes of the Production Manager.
    • Load jobs from unplanned section onto the planner in the most efficient and effective way to minimise late jobs.
    • Add maintenance slots onto all lines as per weekly schedule and ad-hoc as requested by Production Management team.
    • Open up overtime slots as requested by Production Management team.
    • Close down & open resources according to holidays/illness as requested.
    • To inform Production Management team of areas of concern where schedule will not be met unless overtime is enabled.
    • Monitor and advise on Material milestones in relation to scheduling issues.
    • Monitor and advise on Repro milestones in relation to scheduling issues.
    • To maintain a clean schedule at all times with a minimum of late jobs showing.
    • To answer any queries on the schedule from Client Services as requested.
    • To schedule provisional jobs and feedback to Client Services on possible due dates.
    • To attend twice daily production meetings, making changes to the schedule as requested and providing backup to the Production Manager on all aspects of planning at the meetings.
    • To take notes from Production Meetings and follow up with relevant staff members any outstanding issues from the meeting.
    • Co-ordinate with the Despatch team to plan and schedule right first time/on time collection and delivery of products to the Customer.
    • To provide backup to the Despatch team in terms of labelling and consignment admin as requested.
    • Ensure all processes follow H&S regulations and eliminate any potential risks.
    • Ensure all system procedures are followed in accordance with Company guidelines.
    • Perform PO and item master maintenance transactions in the MIS system to back up the buyer as requested - ensuring current delivery and pricing information is maintained.
    • Support the stock take process and provide administrative assistance when requested.
    • General admin support to the Production Manager as required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Preferably educated to A Level standard or with minimum 3 years print industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’e including Maths and English.
  • Willingness to build production scheduling skills and knowledge in order to develop further and allow for multi-skilling within the production team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products as a minimum.
  • Working knowledge of materials and equipment used within the printing industry would be a great advantage but can be taught if necessary.
  • A working knowledge of Tharstens or similar operating system would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Ability to work under their own initiative and to ask the right questions where required.
  • Experience with setting up purchasing agreements to ensure the best prices moving forward.
  • A thorough attitude to the role ensuring all work dealt with is checked and correct.
