Cestrian, a leader in retail, events and outdoor wide-format printing, has become a zero waste to landfill company in 2017.
Of the 133.4 tons of waste generated by the company in the last twelve months, almost all of it was recycled or sent to a waste-for-energy plant, with none sent to landfill.
This year, Cestrian achieved Carbon Smart Gold Certification and in 2018 will upgrade its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications to the 2015 standard, as well as upgrading ISO 18001 to the new ISO 45001 standard. In doing so, Cestrian will be among the first companies in the UK to complete these updated certifications.
In April, it retained the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certification for the sixth year.
Phill Reynolds, Cestrian managing director, said: “We’re 100% committed to being responsible for our operations and are constantly finding new and innovative methods in order to recycle, recover and reduce waste.
“Achieving zero waste to landfill in 2017 is something I’m very proud of and highlights our dedication to doing the right thing by our customers, staff and suppliers as well as the environment. Our success is not just measured by the bottom line; maintaining the highest standards in corporate social responsibility is hugely important and give us the impetus to improve further. “
Cestrian has pursued an efficient programme of waste reduction for the last few years, with 11% sent to landfill in 2013, falling to 8% in 2014 and reducing further to 0.007% in 2016. It has a dedicated HSQE Action Team comprising employees across the business who help the company achieve its annual environmental objectives.
